If this kind of thinking makes you think too, take a look at our community design page!

Inda Sechzer presents the historical context of our Ricalton Square and she discusses the damage being done by the proposed development.   Inda analyzes the design goals that would add to our Village, and presents some sketches as well.

The Post Office site holds great historical significance in the history of Maplewood.   It has been in the public trust continuously since before the Township was formed.  It has been the site of Town Hall, the school house, and the library.   Its original foundation lies below the current Post Office lobby.   Get some background from this short piece describing what we could lose.

What makes Maplewood Village “The Best” owes to the generations for countless thoughtful decisions on our development.   That responsibility now rests with us, so taking the time to surface and embrace our values has become very important.  The best answers will have many facets.

Mr. Ricalton had the name we now all know so well.   But there is much many of us don’t know about Mr. Ricalton.  A New York Times article from the 1980’s described a Newark exhibit dedicated to his exploits.

This post-card sized flyer provides some cool background as well:
